Auto Body Repair Technician

Journey Person, Auto Body Repair Technicians repair and replace damaged motor vehicle structures and body parts, and interior and exterior finish in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
  • Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
  • Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
  • Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including a respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, provincial and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyperson with or without Red Seal.
  • Two years of automotive experience in a dealership position
  • ASE certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Work Enviroment

Although, the shop is well ventilated, the work involves exposure to dust and fumes. The nature of the role requires the use of air powered tools, electrical tools and hand tools which will produce noise.

POSITION SUMMARY

You will play a crucial role in the customer experience by conducting diagnostic procedures to determine vehicle maintenance requirements, provide accurate repair recommendations and complete the repairs to keep the customer and their family safe. Additionally, you can mentor, coach, and train apprentices within the dealership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolved them in a timely manner.
  • Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devices such as motor analyzers, handheld computers, and chassis charts to determine how to address problems.
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of light to medium-duty vehicles
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Estimate parts and labor costs.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service.
  • Test and adjust units to specifications.
  • Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements.
  • Demonstrate and champion a healthy and safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diesel and transmission repair experience would be considered an asset.
  • Completion of a related post-secondary program and or training courses.
  • Professional demeanour and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and using power and hand-held equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving history.

Job Description

The Sales & Leasing Associate Brand Specialist sells automobiles by understanding and demonstrating the vehicles' characteristics, capabilities, and features; developing and qualifying buyers, and closing sales. The ideal Sales & Leasing Associate, Brand Specialist will be knowledgeable on vehicle selection, performance, accessories, efficiency, safety, features and functions, and financing options for our new and used vehicle inventory. The Sales & Leasing Associate, Brand Specialist confidently presents the vehicles to our customers in an attractive and highly informative fashion that promotes a quick sale. In addition, our Sales & Leasing Associate, Brand Specialist, is expected to maintain an ongoing relationship/communication with our customers to encourage networking and repeat business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Sales & Leasing Associate Brand Specialist, your main responsibility is selling automobiles by showcasing features, assisting buyers, and closing sales. You'll need extensive knowledge of vehicle selection, performance, safety features, and financing options, and must maintain ongoing communication with customers to encourage repeat business.

  • Approach, greet, and assist guests who enter the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Build a strong rapport with guests.
  • Plans dealership operations for the coming year and submits to the dealer for approval.
  • Assist guests in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses.
  • Meets with managers individually to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives and to review actual performance.
  • Explain product performance, application, and benefits to guests.
  • Provides dealer with accurate weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership.
  • Ensures the monthly financial statement is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Describe all optional equipment available for guest purchase.
  • Perform high-quality, professional, knowledgeable presentations and demonstrations of new/used vehicles.
  • Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape employees' attitudes and build morale.
  • Report to the General Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews, and analyses.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Committed to ongoing professional development.
  • Member of Automotive After Sales Services and/ or Canadian Professional Sales Association
  • Familiarity with CRM (Client Relationship Management) such as Dealerlogix or VinSolutions
  • Fluency with GMC Dealer SalesAssistant App
  • Licensed by Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) statutes.
  • Exceptional ability to overcome objections, close sales, and perform all other sales process steps per company standards.
  • Intelligent, enthusiastic, performance-driven, outgoing, and full of positive energy.
  • Dedicated and motivated.
  • Previous New and/or Used Sales experience preferred.
  • Results-driven attitude
  • Valid driver’s license
